The Obamas might not have announced their future plans yet but it looks like Malia Obama has a focussed vision ahead. The 18-year old graduated from high school last June and is planning to take a gap year before attending Harvard University.

Quartz reported that Malia has successfully won a scholarship to intern with the New York-based The Weinstein Company—run by Harvey and Bob Weinstein. "Harvey Weinstein is an outspoken Democrat, who has hosted and fundraised for Barack Obama in the past," the report added. The production banner has earlier bankrolled prestigious projects like Golden Globe-nominated Lion and The Founder, Oscar-winner The King's Speech, The Fighter, and The Artist, among others.

However, this isn't the first internship of the former first daughter. Earlier, she interned for HBO series "Girls" in 2015 and on Halle Berry's CBS show "Extant" before that. According to the latest report on The Star, Malia was spotted at the Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday. "She was then spotted at a screening of the film Beach Rats, a drama about a Brooklyn teen who begins exploring his sexuality with older men. Although she may no longer be a first daughter, Malia's presence at the festival definitely didn't go unnoticed," the report revealed. It also published the picture of the teenager clad in a brown jacket looking at her friend's phone.

However, it is still not clear for how long Malia will be interning with the production house as she will be attending Harvard in the fall. After deferring her enrolment, Malia went on a three-month secret trip to South America. After exploring new countries, people, and culture, it looks like Malia is all set to make her footprint into Hollywood.

Before heading to Sundance, the Obamas had a small family weekend in Palm Springs. The former First Family took off to California after Donald Trump's inauguration on Friday. Then, Malia was off to Utah while the youngest scion Sasha would have taken off to DC to continue her schooling. Barrack and Michelle Obama are likely to take a much-needed break on the Caribbean island of Tortola.
